Wonderful Travel Destinations To Wander #59

1. A tight squeeze in the Blue Grotto in Capri, Italy

The Blue Grotto (Italian: Grotta Azzurra) is a sea cave on the coast of the island of Capri, southern Italy. Sunlight passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern. The cave extends some 50 metres into the cliff at the surface, and is about 150 metres (490 ft) deep, with a sandy bottom.

2. Turkish coffee is one of the most loved coffees around the world

This beautiful texture and color of the coffee is precisely due to the cocoa beans native to the Turkey region and the style of making it over the heated sand is a piece of art.

A cup of Turkish coffee is traditionally brewed in a pan filled with sand and heated over an open flame. The sand-filled pan gives you complete control over the heat. Cups left on the surface stay warm, and the heat used for brewing can be adjusted by the depth of the coffee in the sand

10. Incredible and magical moment of bottlenose dolphins swimming in waters with bioluminescent organisms, making for an incredible light show

Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by living organisms. It’s a form of chemiluminescence, which is light produced by a chemical reaction. In bioluminescent organisms, this typically involves a light-emitting molecule called luciferin, an enzyme known as luciferase, oxygen, and other co-factors. The reaction results in the emission of light and is often highly efficient, meaning very little heat is generated.

Bioluminescence is found in a variety of organisms, including certain species of fungi, fish, and plankton. It serves different purposes depending on the organism: some use it to attract mates, others to lure prey, and some even use it for camouflage. It is especially common in the deep ocean, where sunlight doesn’t reach, providing a fascinating illumination in an otherwise dark environment.

12. Just hanging out with the locals at Ningaloo Reef

With a length of 260km and home to around 300 species of coral and 500 species of fish, Western Australia’s Ningaloo Reef is one the largest fringing coral reefs in the world.

After a 1600km road trip to this stunning destination, Gabi set up camp on the water’s edge of this long, stunning beach:

“There’s nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. At night the lack of light pollution in this remote area creates a “bucket list” experience: getting blanketed by the Milky Way in the middle of the desert.

My surf sessions on this phenomenal coastline will always have a very special spot in my personal history books of epic times. Particularly this once-in-a-lifetime experience, I’ll never forget, when Mother Nature gifted me with a live ‘David Attenborough moment’.”
