10. 5 Hidden Gems in Downtown, Cairo
1. I absolutely LOVE all Sip branches. The place has such an aesthetic feel, coffee is amazing, and the staff are so inviting.
2. Caribou Egypt - This branch in Downtown has just recently opened. Haven’t been there except once, but I loved it, although it doesn’t have an outdoor area.
3. Eishmalh - It’s a restaurant and café that mainly features Italian cuisine. The interior design of the place is extremely exceptional. It’s also mostly crowded with expats.
4. Oldisheg - There’s something special to me about this place. It’s has a very simple and authentic feel to me and it’s also both, a restaurant and a cafe that mainly serves Egyptian and Middle Eastern food.
5. Cairoma restaurant - a REAL hidden gem! If you’re an Italian foodie, who still wants to get a local experience, then I highly recommend this place.

Recipe
- 3 lb chuck roast beef cubes (1 inch)
- 6 medium yellow onions, finely diced
- 2 medium yellow onions, sliced thin
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 3 tsp ghee or olive oil
- 3 tsp tomato paste
- 2 cardamom pods
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 boullion cubes
- 2 bay leaves
- salt to taste
- 6 cups beef stock or water
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup green onions for garnish
