5. Have you ever spent a night outdoors admiring the stars? At Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park

Gazing in awe at the night sky, wondering about the meaning of the Universe is one of the trippiest things. What we see goes on and on, F-O-R-E-V-E-R! We are just tiny specs of dust and mere fractions of time in the grand scheme of things. Talk about feeling small. Life's short. Just being alive in this day and age in most countries, many of us have already won the lottery. Never stop working on yourself, be kind to others, and don't forget to enjoy the ride. If you've never cowboy camped, make it one of your life goals. It will give you a new perspective on your life

6. Water like glass, how calm is this, at Assiniboine Park

The calm before the daily winds picked up again. I was the only one out at the lake to watch the morning sun cast its reflections on the glass like water. Well me and a momma deer and her two fawns. Sometimes it's nice just to sit back and enjoy the view

7. Water like Silk at Portland, Oregon

I love the effect longexposure gives flowing water. It's a fine line between keeping enough detail and leaving a milky white mess. Maybe I let the exposure go to long on this one, but I love the dreamlike feel it gives. I've been having fun going through photos from the archive and re-editing them and trying different things. It's amazing how much your style can change and how much the editing process progresses over the years. It's cool to explore different creative avenues as a photographer and learn new things along the way. Keep moving forwards

8. Canyon Falls at Zion Canyon National Park

Since I'm on the waterfall train lately, here's one of my favorites I've visited. We went here on a friend's recommendation, while in Utah and it was absolutely stunning. I remember wading up through the slot canyon, through the river, mid November with just hiking boots on. Our feet got soaked and pretty frozen, but at least it was nice and sunny out to warm them up, sort of :p I'd love to explore some more slot canyons as it's something that's pretty foreign to me

11. Sunbursts, nice morning with the nature at British Columbia

The mountains are so in your face out here, there are few places like it. Honestly some of the view points feel made up to me, like they were perfectly crafted just for our viewing pleasure. I'm happy places like this still exist and that humans before me decided to protect them. I was wondering what Canada would look like if National and Provincial parks weren't a thing. Would there be clear-cuts everywhere? Would we be pillaging these lands for their resources...who knows. Either way, I'm glad they are there and that people from around the World get to enjoy their beauty

12. The Golden Hour at Canmore Banff

Here it is, the shot everyone comes here for. Even though it's become extremely popular, it still has to be one of my favorite places I've seen with my own eyes. The mountains are so in your face, paired with the lakes and the forest below, it doesn't even feel real. It was so windy up here that evening that I was afraid my tripod and camera were going to blow away. I think the golden hour is my favorite time to photograph, more than nighttime, more than sunrise and sunset, the landscapes just come to life at this time of day. Lighting up certain areas and casting shadows in others, it gives the earth a surreal feeling. I will never tire of this spot

13. I love the way the water flows around the rocks at Sunwapta Falls and Canyon

This spot is always a classic stop for me when I'm driving that way. Even though it's super touristy, I love the way the water flows around the rocks in these falls and how you get to stand right above them. Sadly everytime I take a photo here it seems that more and more trees have turned red and succumbed to pine beetle. Jasper has been absolutely devastated by it since coming here when I was a kid. It's hard to believe. I still love it though and it's definitely one of my favorite places in Canada

Water is such a powerful force. Without it we can't survive. It has carved many of the landscapes we enjoy today and is slowly, but surely, changing them further. It is really such an integral part of all of our lives. I am so grateful we still have an abundant source of it where we live. Unless we find some in space, I'm sure it will become a very valuable resource in the not so distant future
